Pisa is a city in Tuscany, central Italy, on the right bank of the mouth of the Arno River on the Ligurian Sea.
It is the capital city of the Province of Pisa.
Although Pisa is known worldwide for its Leaning Tower (the bell tower of the city's cathedral),
the city of over 87,500 residents contains more than 20 other historic churches, several palaces,
and various bridges across the Arno River.
The conference location
The conference will be organized by the HIIS Laboratory (http://hiis.isti.cnr.it) of ISTI-CNR and held at CNR Research Area of Pisa (http://www.area.pi.cnr.it/).
The Institute of Information Science and Technologies (ISTI) is an institute of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) located in the CNR Research Area of Pisa.
The research activity of the Human Interface in Information Systems (HIIS) Laboratory is in methods and tools to support
user interface designers and software developers in obtaining usable systems
that can be accessed from different contexts of use (devices, users,
physical and social environments).
How to get there
You can travel by railway, airplane or car to reach the Conference Venue from outside Pisa:
See http://hiis.isti.cnr.it/visitors.php for more details.
Since there is the "Luminara di San Ranieri" (on June 16, the eve of feast day of Saint Ranieri who is the patron saint of Pisa, the buildings along the Arno River are transformed into a fantastical fairyland setting) in the same week in Pisa, attendees are advised to book their local accommodation and travel as soon as possible.
