The Elmas - Mario Mameli international airport connects Cagliari to many important European cities, primarily through low-cost flights. In addition, it has special connections with the most important airports in Italy, Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa and Linate, respectively with 5 and 3 return flights per day from each town, operated at the special rate of about 50€ by Volotea and Ita Airways. If a direct flight is not available, one of the most convenient solutions is flying to Rome and then to Cagliari.
All trains departing and arriving in Cagliari connect the airport to the city center in Piazza Matteotti, situated in front of the port. Moreover, also taxis and rent-a-car services connect the airport to downtown.
Cagliari offers a good network of local buses. Directions indicating bus numbers are integrated in Google Maps. In addition, there is a metro connecting the city centre with the scientific campus of the University. It's also possible to use cabs or rent a car in the city centre or airport.
