Call for Demos & Posters

Poster Papers

The Poster Track provides researchers and practitioners with the opportunity of presenting their work-in-progress, obtaining precious feedback from their peers in an informal setting.

Demo Papers

Demo papers refer to something that can be shown to demonstrate a completed or ongoing research effort. We are looking for implementations of novel and interesting concepts or systems related to the main topics of EICS.

Lab and Group Demos

We welcome submissions from research groups consisting of multiple demonstrations. This can mean that groups showcase multiple works spanning different themes, or multiple in-depth demonstrations on a single theme. Please contact the Demo and Poster Chairs for more details and to discuss ideas.

Preparing and Submitting Your Poster/Demo Submission

The Demo & Poster Track at EICS 2025 offers authors the opportunity to present early results and new ideas on exciting cutting-edge and experimental research. Posters provide an excellent opportunity for researchers new to the field to participate in the conference.

In addition, we invite demo submissions for cutting-edge systems that make human-technology interaction more intuitive, seamless and enjoyable, or otherwise illustrate some aspect of EICS in an exciting and engaging way. Authors are asked to describe their intended setup in detail. Presenters should provide a description of what the physical setup will look like. The organisers will provide a standard table, WiFi and electrical outlets. In addition, presenters may request computer displays and speakers.

Your demo or poster article should be up to 2 pages in length, double-spaced (+ references), describing your work and should be submitted before the end of the submission deadline. For demo submissions, an image of the work, a video demonstration, and additional information detailing the requirements for the exhibit are also required. All submissions should NOT be anonymised and should include all author names, affiliations and contact information.

Submissions must have the following components:

  1. Paper (due at submission)
  2. Walkthrough Video (due at submission)
  3. Still image (due at submission)
  4. Needs requirement for on-site presentation

Important dates:

  • Submission deadline:Friday, March 14, 2025
  • Notifications:Monday, April 21, 2025
  • E-rights completion deadline:Thursday, April 24, 2025
  • Publication-ready deadline:Wednesday, April 30, 2025

All times are in Anywhere on Earth (AoE) time zone. When the deadline is day D, the last time to submit is when D ends AoE. Check your local time in AoE.

For Demos and Posters

1. Paper

The paper should be up to 2 pages long in the ACM template (two columns), excluding references. It should be self-contained and clearly describe the novelty and distinguishing ideas of your project, even for readers who will not be able to see the related poster or demonstration at the conference and associated videos.

Demo papers should also include a description of the system, installation or exhibit and the problem it addresses. Where relevant, discuss the wider context and issues that your work encourages reflection on.

All authors must make their submissions (paper, image & video) accessible following the recommendations in the Guide to an Accessible Submission and Guide to a Successful Video Submission. If accepted, during the TAPS process your submission will be converted to PDF format and accessibility metadata will need to be added by authors before the camera-ready version is submitted to PCS (Guide to an Accessible Submission).

2. Video (For Demos Only)

A video is the optimal medium to communicate your interactivity demo to the reviewers and provides an archive of the work. You must submit a walkthrough video in addition to your written documentation. The video must be no longer than 3 minutes and all uploaded content (PDF(s) + image + video) must fit within the overall submission size of 250MB. Videos must also be accessible and properly encoded. See the technical requirements for video content. Submitted videos will be used for review purposes. Videos may also be displayed on the interactivity page and possibly on pages that preview EICS content. Make sure you have permission for all content and use royalty-free music tracks. Please refer to the following examples of CHI 2022 walkthrough videos for inspiration:

3. Still Image (For Demos Only)

You will be required to upload a still image of at least 1500 x 1200 px representing your work, together with a suitable image caption and description (accessibility). The image will be used for publications and conference publicity.

4. Demos & Posters Selection Process

Each submission will be reviewed by at least two members of the Demos & Posters Programme Committee. The selection will also take into account feasibility, available space at the conference and other relevant information. Our intention is to ensure that the Demos & Posters track is exciting while representing a range of projects being undertaken.

Demonstrators of all accepted interactivities will be expected to perform live demos during the conference.

Submissions should not contain sensitive, private or proprietary information that cannot be disclosed at the time of publication. Submissions should NOT be anonymous. However, the confidentiality of submissions will be maintained during the selection process. All rejected submissions will be kept confidential in perpetuity.
