The conference will take place at the facilities of the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department (CEID) in the campus of the University of Patras. CEID was founded in 1979 and was Greece's pioneering department in the field of Computer, Informatics and Communications Science and Technology.
In 2019-2020, CEID moved to a new, dedicated building on the campus, leaving its traditional home at Building B. The new building of the Department will serve as the Conference Venue. Its facilities are presented in the following video.
The main campus of the University of Patras is located in Rion, a suburd approximately 7-8km northeast of the city center of Patras, in Western Greece.
The main campus is situated near the Rio-Antirrio Bridge and overlooks the Gulf of Patras. It is the primary and largest campus of the University, housing most faculties, departments, administrative services and the Rectorate Building.
Depending on conference registrations, we will strive to organise a shuttle bus to transport participants directly between the city centre and the conference venue. We will post here detailed information once we have it.
Direct access to the CEID building is only by car or taxi. Using public transport, visitors must first reach the Rectorate building (located at the centre of the Univerisity of Patras main campus), and then either walk to CEID, or take the campus minibus to the building.
To reach University of Patras from the center of Patras there are multiple options.
There are two options to get to the University by local buses, Bus Line 6 (Numbers 601, 602, 604, 605) for University/Rion Hospital/Rion and Bus Line 9 (Number 901) for University/Rion Hospital via Ellinos Stratiotou Street. Since some buses of line 6 go directly to the town of Rion, bypassing the campus, it is advisable to ask before boarding if the specific bus goes to the University (Panepistimio).
The timetables, stops and routes are available here (https://www.astikopatras.gr/grammes). The ticket cost is 1.80 Euros/trip and 1 Euro/trip for students. You can buy tickets at various locations in the city, or pay on the bus using your NFC-enabled mobile or card (the ticket cost on the bus is 2.00 Euros/trip).
Please disembark at the Rectorate Building bus stop, which is the first bus stop inside the University campus. This is where you can board the Mini Bus to the Venue.
The bus website is unfortunately available only in Greek. For Bus Line 6 look for «ΓΡΑΜΜΗ Νο 6» and for Bus Line 9 look for «ΓΡΑΜΜΗ Νο 9» (this bus line runs only during the weekdays).
The Central Railway Station (OSE) is located in the city center. From the Central Railway Station there is the Suburban Railway (Proastiakos) that runs every one hour and connects Kastelokampos, Rio and the University of Patras. The ticket cost is 1.40 Euros/trip and 1 Euro/trip for students and you can pay on the train using NFC (mobile or card). Passengers with bicycles may carry them onto the Proastiakos.
The Proastiakos runs every 1 hour between 06.30 – 22.30 and the daily route starts from St. Andreas – Patras – Kastelokampos – Hospital – University and every 1 hour between 07.00 – 23.00 for the return route University – Hospital – Rio – Kastelokampos – Patras – St. Andreas.
To get to the university, disemabark the train at Kastelokampos Station. A transfer bus (OSE bus) takes the passengers to Hospital, the University and vise versa. No additional ticket purchase is required for this service.
Once on the OSE bus, please disembark at the Rectorate Building bus stop.
The University is about 8 km from the city of Patras and the journey typically takes 15-20 minutes.
The journey from the city center typically takes approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Taxi fare is around 10-12€ and this can be shared between up to 4 passengers.
To book a taxi, either use a hailing app (FreeNow by Lyft), hail a car at the roadside, or get to a nearby taxi rank (your hotel will let you know which one is nearest). Alternatively, you can book a car by telephone:
To reach the conference venue from the Rectorate building bus stop, you can either take the free Mini Bus (Number 612) that runs every 30 minutes between 08:00 and 20:00 or walk to the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department. Note that the walk towards the department is partially uphill and takes about 15 minutes.
If you opt for a taxi, you can either ask the driver to drop you off at the Rectorate Building or directly at the Venue.
